Biroul Consular al României la Ungheni, în Republica Moldova a fost deschis in data de 26.05.2011, în prezenţa miniştrilor de externe din cele două state, Teodor Baconschi şi Iurie Leancă. Biroul va avea ca principal obiect de activitatea eliberarea permiselor de mic trafic în zona de Nord a Republicii Moldova.
Potrivit şefului diplomaţiei române, deschiderea acestui birou consular reprezintă o nouă etapă a relaţiilor bilaterale dintre cele două state. Ministrul Iurie Leancă a afirmat că Biroul Consular de la Ungheni va avea un rol important, şi pentru stimularea circulaţiei persoanelor.
