Incepand cu data de 07.09.2011, de la orele 17.00 vechiul sediu al Ambasadei Statelor Unite ale Americii la Bucureşti, din strada Batiştei, s-a inchis. Ambasada SUA si-a reluat activitatea in data de 14 septembrie 2011, în noul sediu, situat pe bulevardul Liviu Librescu, în zona Băneasa, lângă pădurea Tunari. Imobilul a costat 100 de milioane de dolari, dintre care 60 de milioane reprezintă contribuţie directă la economia românească – le-au explicat ieri jurnaliştilor, oficialii americani. Designul clădirii integrează tehnologii inovatoare care conduc la reducerea consumului de apă şi optimizează eficienţa energetică. Până în ziua de 14 septembrie, când a reînceput activitatea în Băneasa, nu s-au acordat vize cetăţenilor români, ci doar servicii de urgenţă cetăţenilor americani.
